The 4 reasons why Elon Musk bought Twitter

Here are the reasons why Elon Musk decided to buy the social network Twitter for $44 billion:

  1. Open verification with the blue badge to everyone for $3 per month or $24 annually.
  2. Add a button to edit tweets.
  3. Remove fake accounts (bots).
  4. Increase freedom of expression.

Apparently because the service, he says, is not living up to its potential as a “platform for free speech.” Musk insists that he is not interested in making money on Twitter and said on Thursday that his motivation stemmed from the realization that “having a maximally trusted and broadly inclusive public platform is extremely important for the future of civilization”.
