Big news! Google just announced the gradual rollout of Gemini Live, its revolutionary new voice mode, starting with English-speaking users. The good news for French speakers is that even though the French version isn’t officially available yet, there is already a way to access it right now! Read on to find out how.
Important: For now, Gemini Live only works on Android devices and is not yet available on iOS or on the web.
Prerequisites
Before you get started, make sure you meet these two requirements:
- Be subscribed to Gemini Advanced: Gemini Live is an exclusive feature reserved for Gemini Advanced subscribers, Google’s conversational AI service.
- Download the Gemini app: You will need the Gemini app installed on your Android phone to access Gemini Live. It is available for free on the Google Play Store here.
How to get Gemini Live on your smartphone:
Once you meet the conditions above, follow these simple steps:
- Open the Gemini app: Launch the Gemini app on your Android phone.
- Switch Gemini to English: Tap your profile picture in the top right corner of the Gemini home page, then go to “Settings” and then “Languages.” Tap “Use supported languages…” and select English (US). The app will close, so you will need to reopen the Gemini app, which will now be in English.
- Activate Gemini Live: At the very bottom of the Gemini app home page, you’ll see an icon with a sound symbol and a star. Simply tap it to activate Gemini Live.
3. Start interacting: You can now interact with Gemini Live using your voice, even when the app is in the background or your screen is locked.
