Parrot recently launched a sponsored hashtag (#parrotzik) on Twitter to promote its advertising campaign for the Zik headphones. Many people on Twitter, myself included, used this hashtag to debate Parrot’s headphones. But the most surprising part was that the Community Manager of the Beats by Dre Twitter account declared war on Parrot’s Community Manager. This happened mainly through images exchanged between the two brands, such as a picture created by Beats that mocks Parrot’s parrot mascot.

A fake war between the two brands, or just a marketing stunt for Christmas? For now, there is no information on that front. It is a growing trend among competing brands to talk to each other through Twitter.
