Microsoft announces today that this is the end of mainstream support for Windows Phone 8.1.
But is this the end of Windows Phone?
So Microsoft will no longer offer updates for its former OS but will continue to fix security issues for users who still have a phone running Windows Phone 8.1.
It should be noted that while this is the end of feature updates for Windows Phone 8.1, it is not the end of Windows 10 Mobile. Even though Microsoft still does not dominate the phone market, it remains present in it. So with Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft will try to keep innovating in its own way and may attempt to catch up with its seemingly insurmountable lag.
