Microsoft has just announced that the Paint software will no longer be updated. After announcing the end of Windows Phone, Microsoft is also deciding to stop updating the famous software that made it possible to create drawings quickly on Windows.
Paint is 32 years old and has barely been renewed. It was therefore important for Microsoft to stop this software, which was only used to test whether your screen or mouse was working. Beyond that, even Picasso would struggle to make drawings with this tool, which was mostly useless. Often mocked online compared to its competitors like Photoshop or others that can go where Paint could never set foot. As the basic tool of any computer running Windows, it is going to be replaced by Paint 3D, which will allow users to go much further in image retouching. It offers a few original options that can be used with a mouse, but also with fingers or a stylus, on mobile or touchscreen devices. Above all, it makes it possible to turn your creations into 3D models. This feature could be useful for augmented reality programs. Paint is dead, or nearly so!
