The Best Apps for Mental and Physical Well-Being

Today, the smartphone is useful in many situations. It can do pretty much anything and everything. But while it can be loaded with apps that are not necessarily essential, far from it, it can also, at times, prove very useful. Smartphone owners can indeed use it, for example, to get back in shape. And yes, just because you often have your head glued to your mobile device doesn’t mean you have to stay inactive. The smartphone can lead its user onto the healthy path of physical and mental activity. Provided, of course, you have a minimum of motivation.

Application health

– The app that counts calories (free): very sophisticated, it contains an extremely comprehensive database of various foods, so you can find out the calorie content of each one. On top of that, it also includes other information about nutritional elements. It’s My Fitnesspal, for iOS or Android.

– The app that takes stock of your health (free): It is almost as skilled as a doctor. In any case, it offers meticulous tracking of blood pressure, weight, blood sugar, or even cholesterol levels! It connects to various devices such as scales, blood pressure monitors, wristbands… To take stock of your physical condition, you therefore need to use TactioSanté regularly, for iOS or Android.

– The app that makes you do daily physical exercise (free, or 1.79 euros for its extended version): The principle is simple: with this app, you practice fairly easy physical exercises, without needing any specific equipment, every day, without exception. And if you break this strict rule, a notification reminds the negligent user to get back on track. Don’t worry, though, the pace is not drastic: the goal is to complete seven minutes of daily physical activity, with Seven, for iOS and Android.

– The app that tells you whether or not you’ve moved enough (free): It has only recently become available in a French-language version, for iPhone 5s owners only. Its coprocessor can record its owner’s movements. Through a graph, it shows whether you’ve moved enough. If so, the graph turns green. Otherwise, it stays red. Nike + Move is made for iOS.

– – The essential app for joggers (free): It traces the route covered during your runs, calculating the distance covered, the time taken, and therefore your average speed. Runkeeper, for iOS and Android.
